Company History

Bostik was established in 2000 following the merger of the oil companies Total, Elf and Fina. The Dutch branch of Bostik has been around for much longer. A chronological overview is provided below.

1945 Establishment of Rhoon Chemie.

1967 Take-over by Belgian company Rouselot.

1987 CECA, the adhesives division of the French company Elf Atochem, acquires Rouselot.

1996 Elf Atochem acquires Findley and merges the adhesives divisions under the name Ato Findley. The site in Waalwijk is renamed Ato Findley Adhesives BV.

1996 Ato Findley acquires the adhesives division of La Porte, which includes Simson BV.

1997 Ato Findley is established following the merger of Ato Findley Adhesives and Simson. This company operates from sites at Waalwijk and ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

1999 Ato Findley moves into new offices, laboratories and a new distribution centre for both sites at the De Brand industrial estate in s-Hertogenbosch.

2000 Merger between TotalFina and Elf. Bostik Findley is created from the Total subsidiary Bostik and Ato Findley.

2004 Bostik Findley is renamed Bostik.

The merger between Ato Findley and Bostik creates a unique concentration of knowledge and experience in a single organisation. The strength of Bostiks philosophy, which is aimed at local production, is combined with the integrated global market approach of Ato Findley. Bostiks customers enjoy the benefits of this combination to this day. The new group provides customers with global knowledge and experience, taking account of sometimes widely diverging local market conditions and requirements.
